We have not yet launched physical projects; our team is actively on the ground, witnessing realities and assessing true community needs.
Boots on the Ground
Before building permanent programs, the leadership of United for Community Development (UCD)—including Mr. Kenneth Kamran—chose a vital path: going directly to the brick kilns of Punjab to witness the ground reality.
Instead of designing solutions from an office, our visits have allowed us to talk face-to-face with families trapped in the Peshgi debt cycle. We listened to elderly workers struggling with untreated ailments like cataracts, and observed children working alongside their parents instead of holding books.
"True development starts with listening. Our field visits revealed that real needs require targeted, compassionate action."
Based on our direct needs assessments across the brick kilns, we have formulated four primary project aims to be implemented with donor support:
Aim: To establish a dedicated, free primary school equipped with transport, meals, and supplies in Sheikhupura, pulling children away from kiln labor and into safe classrooms.
Aim: To audit fraudulent accounting, challenge illegal interest in courts, and execute direct financial liquidations to legally buy the freedom of bonded families.
Aim: To deploy mobile health units delivering free checkups, respiratory treatments, and emergency surgical funding (such as cataract operations for elderly workers).
Aim: To provide post-rescue training and alternative livelihood opportunities, ensuring freed workers can earn a stable, dignified income outside the kilns.
We have the vision and the ground-level insight. With your partnership and funding, we can turn these planned project aims into life-changing reality.
