Restoring health, dignity, and independence to elderly and disabled workers trapped at brick kilns.
During our recent field visit to the brick kilns, Mr. Kenneth Kamran met with an elderly worker whose vision has deteriorated severely due to advanced cataracts. Despite decades of exhausting labor under the harsh sun, this elderly man cannot even afford the Rs. 50,000 required for his cataract surgery.
Without this procedure, he faces permanent blindness, stripping away his remaining autonomy and leaving him completely dependent while living in profound poverty.

Rehabilitation at UCD goes far beyond legal freedom. Years of backbreaking labor, chemical exposure, and malnutrition leave elderly and injured kiln workers with chronic medical conditions, failing eyesight, and severe physical trauma.
Our rehabilitation and medical welfare program steps in to sponsor emergency surgeries, distribute assistive devices, provide proper medical check-ups, and offer vocational training for younger adults to transition out of the kilns into sustainable livelihoods.
Funding vital treatments like cataract surgeries for elderly workers whose vision has been destroyed by kiln conditions.
Bringing doctors, essential medicines, and screenings directly to isolated brick kiln communities.
Help raise Rs. 50,000 (~$180) to restore sight for the elderly kiln worker.
